Yesterday (March 14) hundreds of cab drivers, joined by hundreds of public transportation (angkot) van drivers on strike, made their way to the Jakarta City Hall in a move to demand the Jakarta Province Government to close Uber’s and Grab’s operation in Jakarta. The drivers argued that Uber and Grab (and other app-based transportation providers) had taken away their customers and killed their livelihood. And so they wanted these app-based services gone.
