Major Asian stock markets tumbled on Thursday morning, following a massive sell-off on Wall Street overnight due to concerns over a global economic slowdown and low oil prices, Cnbc.com reported. Energy plays in Asia traded mostly lower, with Santos down 7.88%, Woodside Petroleum down 2.11% and Oil Search lower by 2.22%. In Japan, Inpex was down 5.15% and Japan Petroleum was down 2.96%. South Korean oil plays were mixed, between up 0.37% and down 0.63%.
