PAN, the New Ruling Coalition, & Cabinet Reshuffle (Part II)

The Board of Ethics (MKD) of the House of Representatives (DPR) is processing an inquiry on the allegation that the House Speaker Setya Novanto had abused his power by promising a favor to PT Freeport Indonesia. To no one’s surprise, DPR’s lawmakers are using this occasion to further their own agenda. For the ruling coalition, Novanto’s case in the MKD presents an opportunity to have the Speaker dismissed from his post, and subsequently pave the way for ruling coalition to control the speakership of the DPR.
