There are more and more confirmation that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will not inaugurate graft suspect Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as the new Chief of the National Police (POLRI). President Jokowi himself, however, have only given a brief comment, “I will resolve all of this by next week.” But if the President ends up cancelling Budi Gunawan’s nomination, he would be at odds with the wishes of his political backers, i.e., PDI-P and the Great Indonesia ruling coalition (KIH).
