On February 18, 2015, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo decided that he would not inaugurate Commissioner General Budi Gunawan as Chief of the National Police (POLRI). The President chose to nominate Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti, the current acting-chief of POLRI to replace Budi Gunawan. In matters of hours after the President’s announcement, politicians from the the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P)—the Party that is known to be the prime backer of Budi Gunawan’s Chief of POLRI nomination—took to the media to express their disappointment.
