Acting Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama will soon have his oath taken by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. This is the first ever gubernatorial inauguration performed by the President of the Republic—a new arrangement stipulated in the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) No. 1/2014. The date and time of the ceremony have not yet been made public, but the State Palace did say that it’s all up to the President.
