The United Development Party (PPP) is still deeply divided. The party’s faction led by Romahurmuzy, popularly known as Romy, held their own National Congress, which they claim to be the legal and official congress, late last week. The outcome of the Congress: Romy voted in as the new chairman of PPP, and that PPP will be a part of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s government. The legality of Romy’s Congress has been challenged by PPP’s other chairman Suryadharma Ali. The Party’s Syariah Council seems to back Suryadharma’s claim, suggesting that there will be another Congress to settle the dispute between the two warring PPP faction. To subscribe please click here
