Prabowo Subianto’s Red-and-White coalition is the loser in the 2014 presidential race. But at the House of Representatives, the coalition is a majority force that controls more than 60% of the seats. With said collective power, approximately two months ago, the coalition passed the revised Legislative Institution Law (MD3), which gave the coalition the opportunity to rob the leadership of the 2014-2019 DPR leadership. And now, the coalition is aiming to eliminate Indonesia’s direct election of regional leaders and reinstate election of leaders by the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) through the Regional Election Bill (RUU Pilkada).
