So grave is the idea of reinstating election of regional leaders by Regional Representative Councils (DPRD), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) took it upon themselves to warne the public of a high potential of corruption should the Regional Election Bill (RUU Pilkada) be made into law. And so the battle against the passage of RUU Pilkada continues. Members of the public has pressured the central government to put on hold the discussion of the controversial bill with the House of Representatives (DPR). The question now is whether or not the government will succumb to the people’s will.
