The United Development Party (PPP) fired its chairman Suryadharma Ali. It was always a matter of time that the former Minister of Religious Affairs would be sacked by his party because of his status as a suspect in a corruption case. The decision to sack Suryadharma Ali was reached in a meeting held on Tuesday (Sep. 9) evening attended by the Parties top executives. The question now is, has Suryadharma’s dismissal opened the door for PPP to change side from Prabowo Subianto’s Red-and-White coalition to the coalition of President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo?
