President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had reportedly asked Ahmad Syafi’i Maarif to be one of his advisers in the President-elect Transition Team. Ahmad Syafi’i Maarif was the former Chairman of Muhammadiyah, the second largest Muslim organization in the country. Commenting on his Jokowi’s request, Syafi’i said that he wanted to first discuss the idea of his appointment with Megawati Soekarnoputri, Jusuf Kalla, and Surya Paloh.
