The decision of Megawati Soekarnoputri, as chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), to nominate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as PDI-P’s presidential candidate has only intensified the pressure against Ical’s nomination. Jokowi’s nomination is widely believed to be a game changer. A lot of votes would go to PDI-P because of Jokowi. Other contenders must now go back to their drawing board and rethink their strategy.
