The government’s idea to pay the election witnesses for political parties has stirred quite the controversy. The government has allocated Rp658 billion to pay for all the election witnesses this year. That means each political party participating in the 2014 election will get Rp54.5 billion. The sum will be distributed by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).
