Gigih Prakoso: New CEO of PGAS

Gigih Prakoso Soewarto has been appointed new CEO of Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGAS) to replace Jobi Triananda Hasjim. Gigih, who was previously director of state oil and gas company Pertamina, is tasked to accelerate consolidation of Pertamina-PGAS, which weighed recovery of PGAS stock in the past few months.

Anggodo Widjojo Passes Away

Businessman Anggodo Widjojo (Ang Tjo Lie), who was sentenced 10 years prison for bribery and obstruction of justice related to project at ministry of forestry when the ministry was led by MS Kaban, former president of Islamic party PBB, has reportedly passed away in Surabaya, East Java on Friday, Sept 9.

Considered successful in organizing Asian Games 2018, Thohir could be a smart decision from the incumbent for his reelection next year. Victor Laiskodat has been sworn into office of East Nusa Tenggara governor by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Wednesday (Sept 5). Laiskodat, a politician from NasDem Party, will lead the province known for its huge tourism industry potentials. After the ceremony, the politician said he would review all mining activities in the province to focus on the development of tourism industry.

China’s technology giant Huawei is among major foreign companies with significant sales revenues in Indonesia. PT Huawei Tech Investment, one of the subsidiaries, is now even the largest shareholder of Bakrie Telecom (BTEL), the troubled telco company of Bakrie Group.

Bayan Group & Politics

Coal giant Bayan Resources (BYAN) booked net profit of US$271.8 million in the first half ended June 30, 2018, significantly bigger than Adaro Energy (ADRO), which posted net profit of US$218.8 million in the same period even though BYAN’s sales revenues were around half of ADRO. Like ADRO shareholders, owners of BYAN enjoyed US$132.2 million of dividend in the first half of 2018 against zero in the same period last year.

Nicke Widyawati as CEO of Pertamina?

The acting CEO of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati has been mentioned as the likely definitive CEO of Pertamina. Several of our sources in the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) have said that Nicke is indeed a strong candidate for the position, and that her name is already on the list of candidates to be considered by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
