H Achmad Soetantyo (Tan Tjoe Giem), founder of Djitoe Group, has passed away on Saturday (July 10). Djitoe Group is a diversified business group with interest in cigarette and stationary products plus property and real estate development, particularly in Central Java province.
Kayo Salim passes away
Kayo Salim, founder of Fikasa Group—-used to own substantial shares in PT Miwon Indonesia (MSG player), has just passed away in Jakarta at 86. He leaves behind four children, including two sons who have interest in some companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

Saptari Hoedaja, long-time CEO of Bumi Resources (BUMI), the largest coal group in the country, has passed away on Sunday (July 4) at MMC Hospital, South Jakarta. Harmoko, the longest serving minister of communication during Soeharto regime, also passed away Sunday. Earlier, we have seen the passing of some politicians, including Jane Shalimar, Emmy Hafild, and Rachmawati Soekarnoputri.

On Joker’s Case: Pinangki’s Appeal
It has been over four months since the Panel of Judges of the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court read its decision on those who supposedly helped Joko Soegiarto Tjandra, including former prosecutor Pinangki Sirna Malasari. Pinangki was found guilty of evil conspiracy, money laundering, and bribery and because of that the Panel of Judges handed to her a sentence nearly twice more severe than what the prosecutor had demanded. The public praised said decision, but unfortunately, on the stage of appeals the Panel of Appeal reduced Pinangki’s sentence.
