Riders, Revenue, and Rhetoric
The discourse around adjusting online motorcycle taxi (ojek online) fares by 8–15%, as announced by the Ministry of Transportation during a hearing with the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), appears to be a populist move that’s easy to sell. Later, it was discovered that from the search the KPK managed to secure a number of pieces of evidence and this case was related to a procurement project that took place between 2020 and 2024. Honestly, this news is not surprising, but that is the saddest part.

Politicians go down to subsidiaries (2)
Politicians, especially from President Prabowo Subianto’s Gerindra Party, have been granted commissioner position in subsidiaries of state companies. With easy money from the state companies, it is actually not relevant to talk about more subsidies from the State Budget to finance political parties.
