The overpriced Petrosea

Shares of mining contractor Petrosea (PTRO), member of Prajogo Index, ended higher by 1.46% to Rp3,470 on Friday (Feb 14) to make a market capitalization of Rp35 trillion, bigger than state coal miner Bukit Asam (Rp31.2 trillion). The stock, as you know, has gained more than 700% in the past 12 months. 

The sudden gain of Bank Permata

Shares of Bank Permata (BNLI) ended substantially higher by 17.3% to Rp1,630 last Friday (Feb 14) when the bank announced 38% jump in net profit to Rp3.57 trillion last year. The last quoted price was above the price paid by Bangkok Bank when acquiring the bank five years ago, but the bank is valued lower now.

Digesting new numbers from Prabowo

President Prabowo Subianto gave an hour long speech during the 17th Anniversary of his Gerindra Party on Saturday (Feb 15) at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), West Java province. The president briefly addressed the crowd, including all cabinet members, about ‘budget saving’ with a power point presentation. 

Prabowo on Budget Cut & Danantara

President Prabowo Subianto revealed more details about his budget cut and BP Danantara in a speech at the World’s Governments Summit on Thursday (Feb 13). Prabowo proudly claimed that his administration managed to save US$20 billion from the State budget cut, and that the newly established super holding Danantara will play crucial role in achieving his ambitious 8% economic growth.

The Cancelled Layoffs at TVRI/RRI

TVRI and RRI have eventually cancelled the mass layoffs after receiving a backlash from the public as well as a reprimand from the House of Representatives (DPR). This decision was conveyed by President Director of TVRI, Imam Brotosena, and President Director of RRI, I. Hendrasmo, in a hearing meeting (RDP) with the Commission VII of DPR on Wednesday (12/02). Both of them also ensured that there will be no layoff, temporary dismissal, or even fee deduction for the employees and contributors working at the two institutions.

Parent continues squeezing Unilever Indonesia

Shares of consumer goods giant Unilever Indonesia (UNVR) opened lower by almost 5% to Rp1,320 this morning as investors digested the company’s full year 2024 financial results. Unilever recorded net profit of Rp3.37 trillion, collapsed by 30% from 2023, mainly due to high trademark, technology and service fees charged by its parent company overseas.
