On Internux’s PKPU
On August 20, 2018, two creditors of PT Internux sued the Bolt operator. The lawsuit on Suspension of Debts Payment (PKPU) was eventually granted by the Panel of Judges of the Commercial Court of the Central Jakarta District Court. It was recently revealed that the total amount of debts that PT Internux owed exceeded Rp4 trillion. Among the debts are receivables of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, which is the cause of yet another lawsuit.

On Petroselat’s Insolvency : Lawsuit Against the SKK Migas
The Government begin auctioning the operation of Selat Panjang block on August 15, 2018 along with the operation of five other oil and gas block. This announcement could be the end for the process of insolvency of Petroselat Ltd, the subsidiary of PT Sugih Energy Tbk (SUGI). The creditors who had previously asked the Government to terminate the contract with Petroselat expressed their gratitude, but the Company has yet to make any statement.
Latest on the Bakamla Graft Case – The Vocal Defendant
We have followed the journey of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in uncovering the corruption scheme involving officials of the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) since 2016, but the accounts mentioned in court still surprises today. The latest defendant in the case, one Fayakhun Andriadi (who at the time of the incident was the member of the House Commission I from Golkar), revealed several interesting things in the latest hearing of his trial. He mentioned the allegation of an involvement of the President’s distant family, and also accused his seniors in Golkar.
Law Jounal: Sariwangi’s Bankruptcy
There’s a sad news coming from the Commercial Court of the Central Jakarta District Court yesterday: PT Sariwangi Agricultural Estate Agency (Sari Wangi AEA Co Ltd – Sariwangi) and its subsidiary PT Maskapai Perkebunan Indorub Sumber Wadung (Indorub) are deemed bankrupt.
Problems in Jiwasraya?
One week ago the public were surprised by a letter on the postponement of payment of cash due for the JS Proteksi Plan, a product of State-Owned Enterprise PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero). The letter triggered various reactions, but Jiwasraya immediately refuted the claim that the Company had defaulted. Jiwasraya claimed that it only asked for a delay in fulfilling its obligations due to liquidity pressure. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) also said that such a situation was common with insurance companies. But too late, people are now questioning Jiwasraya.
WALHI v. BKPM : Mining License for PT Emas Mineral Murni
Indonesia’s Environmental Foundation (WALHI) filed a lawsuit against the Government, this time against the Head of the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). At the heart of the lawsuit is the Head of BKPM’s decision to grant a Production Operation Mining License (IUP-OP) to PT Emas Mineral Murni, a subsidiary of Canada-based Asiamet Resources Limited (formerly Kalimantan Gold Corporation Limited; LSE: ARS). The Company operates in the district of Beutong in the regency of Nagan Raya, Aceh. Its presence has been rejected by the inhabitants of villages around the area since 2013.
Sting Operation in Bekasi
Lippo Group is on the verge of losing public trust after being mentioned in several cases of corruption since 2016. Some of these cases were revealed only in the past two weeks and the Sindoro brothers, i.e., Eddy and Billy are the main characters. The latest sting operation conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Bekasi revealed the possibility of the KPK naming the developer of the Meikarta township project a graft suspect. Meanwhile, the project recently faced a lawsuit on debts dispute. Though the lawsuit was not granted by the court, the Company filed a police report against the parties who filed the lawsuit.

November 19, 2017, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) took then House Speaker and Golkar chairman Setya Novanto, one of the strongest men in Indonesian politics, from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital to its detention center. Novanto, as you know, has been sentenced 15 years prison for his role in the infamous electronic ID (e-KTP) scandal. This was followed with the arrest of his lawyer Fredrich Yunadi weeks later for obstruction of justice. Yunadi has also been sentenced seven years prison.
Santan Borneo Abadi v. Ganda Alam Makmur
Last week, the Central Jakarta District Court registered a lawsuit filed by PT Santan Borneo Abadi against PT Ganda Alam Makmur. Although the public may not know much about the two companies, the parties behind this dispute are interesting to note.
