The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) ‘s third sting operation in 2022 ensnared then Regent of Langkat, Terbit Rencana Peranginangin (Golkar). Terbit is the 16th regional head of North Sumatera embroiled in a corruption scandal in less than a decade. But Terbit’s arrest reveals crimes that are more horrific than “mere” corruption. With the help and support of many people, including his own son, Terbit has consciously committed a gross violation of human rights. The crimes are being investigated by the police with the help of National Commission on Human Rights. In KPK case, separately, trial of the defendants started in June 2022 and far from media coverage, the prosecutors had read their demands during the latest hearing.

Similar to the case in Ambon, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named suspects in the case of bribery related to the procurement of goods and services in the Buru Selatan regency, in the province of Maluku, after conducting an investigation into the allegations of crimes committed during the tenure of former Regent Tagop Sudarsono Soulisa (PDIP). The proceedings continue far from media coverage and the briber had been convicted. Recently the prosecutors read their demands for Tagop.
