President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has on Monday (Nov 7) paid a visit to the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu toll road, whose construction has been delayed for more than two decades. As of today, physical construction of Section I, which started in January 2015, has reached 78.6%. The President expects commercial operation of this section early next year.

Trans-Sumatra Toll Road Project, So Far….

Kompas, the largest newspaper in Indonesia, quoted field officers in Sumatra Island that land acquisition for Bakeuheni-Terbanggi Besar has reached 62.53%. Acquisition of the remaining 37.47% is expected for completion in the coming months because more than half have agreed on the compensation consideration.

SmartFren in Q3: Stronger Sales, but Losses Expand

The financial statement of three cable manufacturers listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX)- Jembo Cable (JECC), Supreme Cable (Sucaco/SCCO), and Kabelindo Murni (KBLM)—-for the first nine month of 2016 shows the positive growth in manufacturing sector. The growth is supported by power transmission projects from PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and the investments In telecommunication industry.

Beer Players in Q3: Multi Bintang vs Delta Djakarta

Beer market leader Multi Bintang Indonesia (MLBI), controlled by Heinneken, booked net profit of Rp679 billion in Jan-Sep 2016, jumped 92% from the corresponding period of 2015 as sales normalized in domestic market. Delta Djakarta (DLTA), controlled by San Miguel, meanwhile, posted net profit of Rp170 billion, an increase of 41.6% from Jan-Sep 2015.

MNC Sky Vision in Q3: Improved, but…

MNC Sky Vision (MSKY) is still the largest player in pay TV business here. Competition, however, intensified from Telkom Group, Lippo Group, Emtek Group, and Sinarmas Group. In the first nine months of 2016, MSKY reported 2.4% decline in sales revenues, while other players reported strong growth.

TV Broadcasters in Q3

Media Nusantara Citra (MNCN), parent of TV stations RCTI and MNC TV, is now valued around Rp30 trillion (US$2.3 billion), gained 13.2% year-to-date, while Surya Citra Media (SCMA), parent of TV stations SCTV and Indosiar, is valued almost Rp39 trillion (US$3 billion). Visi Media Asia (VIVA), parent of ANTV and TVOne, is worth Rp4.18 trillion (US$320 million) only even though it posted substantially higher sales revenue growth in third quarter and first nine months of 2016.
