In the last week of July 2020, KT Corporation, South Korea’s oldest and largest telecommunications company, filed a lawsuit to the Central Jakarta District Court seeking bankruptcy of PT Global Mediacom Tbk (BMTR). We all know that the parties, including PT Bhakti Investama Tbk (currently known as PT MNC Investama Tbk – BHIT), have been in dispute for over a decade. The parties fight each other through several legal channels. In Indonesia, the latest decision was given by the Supreme Court in 2019. KT Corporation lost. Maybe the decision is the reason KT Corporation tried a different legal channel. BMTR angrily responded to the lawsuit, stating that they will file a police report, but they didn’t. Instead, BMTR submitted a different lawsuit earlier this week, demanding that the same Court annul the source of the prolonged dispute: arbitration award.
