The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again named the Regent of Sabu Raijua in East Nusa Tenggara Marthen Dira Tome as a suspect in the corruption of education funds. Marthen previously filed for a pre-trial, and his petition was accepted by the court in May 2016. Many then predicted that Marthen would go through what the former Mayor of Makassar Ilham Arief Sirajuddin went through—the KPK again named him as a suspect. That said, the KPK do not immediately rename all “former suspects” as a suspect. The former Director General of Taxation Hadi Poernomo, for example, was not renamed as a suspect after he won his pretrial.To subscribe please click here
