On Feb. 12, 2015, two patients died at the Lippo-controled Siloam hospital Lippo Village Karawaci after they were injected with a local anaesthetic drug called Buvanest Spinal, a brand produced by the largest pharmaceutical company in Indonesia PT Kalbe Farma (KLBF) . In matters of days, the case grabbed the attention of the Ministry of Health and the National Food and Drugs Agency, BPOM. The media picked up on it and quickly turned it into a national scandal.
