The plenary session of the House of Representatives conducted on Sept. 29, 2022 took many by surprise. One of the results was the decision to dismiss Justice Aswanto from the Constitutional Court. Justice Aswanto is one of three Constitutional Justices who are representatives of the House of Representatives so the lawmakers feel entitled to make this decision. However, the dismissal of Constitutional Justice should have gone through the existing procedures not to mention that under normal circumstances, Justice Aswanto would only retire in 2029. How did this situation occur?
