Last week, the Commercial Court of the Central Jakarta District Court registered a lawsuit filed by PT Terbit Financial Technology (Terbit Financial), a subsidiary of Terbit Pte Ltd. Terbit Financial sued PT Application Karya Anak Bangsa (GoJek) and PT Tokopedia for registering the “GoTo” trademark and several other variants as their own. Terbit claims to have registered a trademark with the same name, and therefore the lawsuit alleges GoJek of not having good faith. What makes the case suspicious is because Terbit tried to ask for a compensation of Rp2 trillion.
