For those diligently following Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGAS) and Bakrie Group, the signing of an agreement between Bakrie & Brothers (BNBR) and PGAS on March 10, 2014, related to construction of 207-KM gas pipeline connecting Petronas-operated Kepodang Gas Field and PLN’s Tambak Lorok gas-fired power plant in Semarang, is not a big surprise. Some, however, continue to ask why? What has triggered PGAS to ‘bailout’ Bakrie in this project?
