Like in South Kalimantan election area, we see some people from coal business nominated as lawmakers in Central Kalimantan, home to both coking and thermal coal resources. Gerindra Party, for example, nominates executive of one coal mining group with assets in both provinces. Gerindra’s boss Prabowo Subianto is known for interests in the industry.

Right! We’re talking about Antono Budiarto, boss of operations at Jhonlin Group. He is lawmaker candidate from Gerindra Party alongside Iwan Kurniawan, Alida Handau Lampe, Hisar Tambunan, and others in Central Kalimantan election area.

Antono’s nomination is interesting because Jhonlin Group is known for close relationship with Tommy Winata, while Tommy and Prabowo are not considered of having smooth relationships. Also interesting that Alida Handau Lampe Guyer, wife of Hans Guyer, is CEO of PT Pakat Dayak Group (gold mine) and president commissioner of PT Anglia Raksapati (gold mine).

In this area, PDI-P nominates Asdy Narang, nephew of Agustin Teras Narang (Central Kalimantan governor). Asdy was elected lawmaker for the first time in 2009. He is CEO of PT Kharisma Duta Mining and commissioner of PT Media Bersama and PT Sistech Media Softindo. PT Kharisma Duta Mining has been granted clear and clean status for 9907 hectares of coal exploration in Murungraya Regency, Central Kalimantan.

In West Kalimantan election area (the whole province), PDI-P nominates businessman G Michael Jeno as lawmaker. Jeno is member of the board of commissioners and directors of PT Tri Mitra Resources, PT Boma Plantation (palm oil, member of Top Jaya Group), PT Dwi Prima Persada, and PT Gambaru Selaras Alam (timber plantation and mining).

In this area, President SBY’s Democratic Party nominates businessman Albert Yaputra, who is CEO of various companies like PT Bumi Discotama Abadi and PT Partner Sejati Garment. He was CEO of PT Prima Sistimatika, PT Continental Investment SIngapore, and PT Atina Investment.  Since 2009, he has been deputy treasurer of Democratic Faction in the House of Representatives (DPR) and coordinator of Indonesia-China relations in the House.

The party also nominates Lim Sui Khiang, owner of Planet I Hollywood (Karaoke, Pontianak) and commissioner of PT Fajar Anugerah Lestari (forestry company) and PT Sari Pasifik Pontianak.

Harry Tanoe’s Hanura Party, meanwhile, nominates Henoch Thomas, in this area. He is director of PT Supra Kunci Emas Jaya and PT Pasirmas Mulia. His partner in this company is Mr Abdullah Popo Parulian, also known as business partner of Bakrie Group. Supra Kunci Emas is a general contracting firm.

Surya Paloh’s NasDem Party nominates Syarif Abdullah Alkadrie, director of PT Aura Sakti Engineering, in this area. Aura Sakti is one of IT providers for Indonesian military, especially Air Force Headquarter.

To be Continued with business people competing in areas like East Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.
