Back in March 2023, the Government announced their decision not to renew the management license for Block 15 Gelora Senayan, the area over which The Sultan Hotel & Residence currently stands. For decades, the management of the hotel was PT Indobuildco and since the hotel was founded, disputes between the Government and the company have been going on. Hotel management is tinged with various problems including allegations of corruption. In several disputes examined by the courts, the Government won. Because of that, the Government confidently made the decision to take over the management of the hotel. But Indobuildco refused to give up and filed a lawsuit. Towards the end of last week, the Ministry of State Secretariat held a press conference accompanied by their legal counsels and announced that the Government through the Ministry had filed a lawsuit for intervention as an interested party in this dispute.
