Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia tumbled 89.05% year-on-year to 141, 264 in January 2021, as the COVID-19 global crisis forced more countries to implement travel restrictions. The number of arrivals by air in Bali, the center of the Indonesian tourism industry, slumped 100% to 2. Also, those visiting Jakarta plunged 99.34% to 1,234 and those reaching Batam slumped 99.83% to 260. Tourists fell mostly from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
