The energy and mineral resources (ESDM) ministry reported the realization of coal production until May 2020 reached 228 million tons (MT) of coal from this year’ target 550 MT of coal. While, the realization of the use of coal for domestic interests market obligation (DMO) recorded 53.55 MT of coal from the annual targets 155 MT of coal.

Then, the realization of coal exports with total amount 175.15 MT of coal or equivalent to US$7.77 billion. The export volume prognosis for 2020 is set at 435 MT of coal.

The ministry sees that coal demand in the international market during 2020 is expected to decrease due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At present, Indonesia explore to export the coal products to other developing countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
