Major stock markets in Asia were mostly higher on Friday, amid hopes for additional stimulus measures from Chinese government to soften the impact of coronavirus epidemic. On the trade front, China is set to halve tariff rates on certain US products worth about $75 billion with effect later today. China’s Shanghai Composite ended 11 points higher to 2,917. South Korea’s KOSPI also rose 11 points or 0.5% to 2,244. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index gained 90 points or 0.3% to 27,817 at around 03:15 PM Hong Kong time. Meanwhile, the Nikkei 225 in Japan ended 161 points lower ot 0.7% at 23,667. Also, India’s BSE Sensex lost 76 points or 0.2% to 41,394 at around 12:15 PM India time.
