Stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region closed mixed on Thursday after the Dow Jones tumbled 800 points on mounting fears of a possible recession. The US yield curve was inverted for the second straight trading session while weak economic data from Germany and China also added to concerns. The Nikkei 225 lost 1.2% to 20,406; and the S&P/ASX 200 plunged 2.9% to 6,408; while the Shanghai Composite index rose 0.3% to 2,816; and the Hang Seng gained 0.6% to 25,447. Markets in South Korea and India were closed for holidays.
