This week, the Government will release Abu Bakar Ba’asyir, the Mubaligh or Carer of the Al-Mukmin Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren Al-Mukmin) in Ngruki, Sukoharjo, Central Java. Ba’asyir, who turned 81 years old this year, was convicted in a case of terrorism back in 2011. His planned released has caused much of a stir. The majority of the conversations in the social media platform on this topic were that of disappointment. The legal basis for this release came under question. That Ba’asyir had refused to sign a pledge of loyalty to the State (Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia) and the State philosophy Pancasila was also discussed.
