Telco firm Indosat Ooredoo (ISAT) reported that it suffered loss of Rp436 billion for H1 this year, against profit Rp869 billion in H1 last year as revenues fell 26.7% to Rp11 trillion from previous Rp15 trillion. ISAT booked revenues of Rp5.37 trillion in second quarter (Q2), down 5.6% from previous quarter.

The registration policy hit Indosat as as blended average rate per user (ARPU) fell significantly by 36.4% to Rp14,300 only. Indosat, accordingly, reported EBITDA of Rp3.5 trillion in H1, fell 47.5% from the same period last year. Ebitda margin reached 31.7% in H1. The government’s policy on registration of users might have contributed to 22.5 fall in number of pre-paid customers to 73.8 million in H1, while post-paid customers jumped 35.3% to 1.5 million.
