After extended for couple months, again Indonesia will extend the special mining permit for PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) for another month to September. According to the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Ignasius Jonan the permit will be renewed every month. Just few weeks ago, ESDM again gave a temporary export permit to PTFI due to the share sales with U.S’s Freeport-McMoRan Gold & Copper Inc. and Australian Rio Tinto’s participation rights not yet completed.

Since the beginning of this year the government has extended the Freeport export permit almost fourth times. Previously, the Director General of Mineral and Coal Bambang Gatot Ariyono at the ESDM office on July 31 stated, if that negotiations will not be completed in the coming month, the government will extend PTFI’s temporary export for three months.
