Controlling Golkar, the second largest party, is key to the 2019 presidential election. As the second largest political party with 14.75% seats in the House of Representatives (DPR), the party can actually promote own pair candidate to challenge Jokowi with support from smaller parties. The current leadership, of course, has openly expressed its intention to support re-election of Jokowi. Still, it is not final until the registration is closed.
