The Government has since July 1, 2017 set new tariff for app-based transportation or online taxi, as ruled on the Transportation Minister Regulation (Permenhub) Number 26 Year 2017. The providers of online taxi are required to set tariff at the upper and lower limit. The Government set the said tariff for 2 main areas; Sumatera, Bali, Java (region 1) and Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Papua (region 2). For region 1, the tariff is set for Rp3,500 per kilometer (minimum tariff) and Rp6,000 (maximum). For region 2, the tariff is set at Rp3,000 and Rp6,500.
