Mobile-8 Tax Restitution Case : Pre-Trial Lawsuits are Granted

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is having a bad year and it’s getting worse after the South Jakarta District Court decided to partially grant the pre-trial lawsuits filed by two suspects in the case of alleged corruption in tax restitution conducted by PT Mobile-8 Telecom Tbk (Mobile-8). The two suspects, i.e., Hary Djaja and Anthony Chandra Kartawiria will be free from the criminal charges. Not only that, the Court also stated the AGO do not have the authority to investigate such case. What will be the AGO’s next move?

Asia markets were flat in early trade on Wednesday, with energy stocks under pressure following overnight declines in oil prices and as traders eyed a meeting between the world’s top oil producers in Vienna, cnbc.com reported. Oil prices tumbled nearly 4% on Tuesday amid fresh uncertainties over an OPEC deal to reduce production levels with ministers from the 14-nation cartel slated to meet in Vienna later Wednesday to announce a decision on output curbs proposed in September. During Asian hours on Wednesday, U.S. crude futures rebounded slightly, up 0.33 percent at $45.38, after falling 3.9 percent on Tuesday during U.S. hours.

Dahlan is suspect in his capacity as former CEO of PWU. There are two other corruption cases against Dahlan, who won the highest votes as potential president candidate from Democratic Party led by sixth president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

SBY Crybaby: Uncover the Mask

Sixth President SBY published an op-ed at Rakyat Merdeka newspaper on Monday (Nov 28) titled “Restore Peace and Our Unity”, days before the planned rally on December 2nd. While the article was meant an advise to President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo based on SBY’s beliefs about the state of the nation, one can’t be blamed to see similarities with SBY’s provocative statements ahead of November 4th rally, which turned violent. Some reporters asked Jokowi whether he had read the article. “Not yet,” Jokowi replied.
