The United Development Party (PPP)—the oldest Muslim-based political party in the country—remains torned by internal competition for leadership. A PPP transitional leadership was recently formed and revealed that the Party would hold a chairmanship congress (Muktamar) in April 2016, in a move to elect a new chairman for the Party and settle the Party’s dispute for good.
