Data from the Traffic Department of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Office shows that there are more than 16 million private vehicles in Jakarta—Jakarta has a population of 9 million. The number of private vehicle ownership has been increasing approximately by 9.93 percent annually in the past five year.
