President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is expected to swear in the new Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI) Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo and the new Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Lt. Gen. (ret) Sutiyoso at the State Palace Jakarta, any moment this (July 8) afternoon. Many believe Gatot’s and Sutiyoso’s appointment are proofs of the Army’s growing influence in governance, and so it should be unsurprising to see the Army influencing the President’s decision in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle.To subscribe please click here
