Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17000 islands. These, however, are not enough or at least considered ‘not viable economically’ by property developers. Some developers, with the blessing of Jakarta administration, have been granted license to create 17 new islands in the Jakarta Gulf. Public, unfortunately, have limited information about how these developers secured the licenses in the first place and what the State would get in exchange.
