Last night, Gerindra lost its chairman Suhardi to lung cancer. In view of his longstanding status as the University of Gadjah Mada academic, Suhardi will be interred at the University’s burial ground in Yogyakarta later today. Suhardi’s passing marks yet another blow for the party. It’s only recently that Gerindra’s founder Prabowo Subianto had to face a devastating defeat at the Constitutional Court after the latter decided to completely reject the former’s claim of a fraudulent presidential election. People are now beginning to wonder, what more does the future hold for Gerindra?
