At 11 AM today, newly elected members of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) will be sworn in to their office. President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is expected to tender his resignation subsequently. Jokowi’s resignation will pave way for his second-in-command Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to automatically become the first Governor of the capital city of Chinese descent.
