Finland has a special place in Indonesian politics, thanks to the signing of agreement between leaders of Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and central government of Indonesia to end decades of conflicts in Aceh in Helsinki August 15, 2005. Since then, diplomatic and economic relationship between the two countries increased substantially, including lucrative contracts secured by engine manufacturer Wartsila Corporation.
