The Constitutional Court has partly granted the request in the judicial review of Presidential Election Law No. 42/2008 filed by Effendi Gazali — a political observer from the University of Indonesia. The Court rules that the presidential and legislative elections must be held simultaneously beginning 2019. As such, every single political party eligible to contend in the elections would be able to nominate their own presidential & vice presidential candidates prior to the elections.
