Three years ago, Matahari Kahuripan Indonesia (Makin Group), controlled by Susilo Wonowodijojo (one of shareholders of Gudang Garam, second largest cigarette player), reportedly had around 130,000 hectares of planted area. Back then, the group only produced around 850,000 tons of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) or around 170,000 tons of crude palm oil (CPO). What’s happened in the past three years?
