Minister candidates (6): Raja Juli Antoni
Raja Juli Antoni, secretary general of PSI, a small party led by Kaesang Pangarep (youngest son of outgoing president Jokowi), is said one of minister candidates proposed by Jokowi to president elect Prabowo Subianto. Antoni or Toni, currently vice minister of land and agrarian reform, might get a full minister position.
More on Meutya Hafid
Two weeks ago, on September 27, Meutya Hafid was summoned by President-elect Prabowo Subianto for a meeting at his private residence in Hambalang, West Java. The Head of Commission I DPR-RI is rumored to be the next Minister of ICT replacing Budi Arie Setiadi, who is known as a Jokowi loyalist. Although Meutya said they only had a discussion about the Commission I, it doesn’t negate the fact that her name is among the list of candidates proposed by Golkar Party to Prabowo for the minister positions. So, the rumor might be true.
Minister candidates (2): Pratikno
Pratikno, trusted aide of outgoing president Jokowi, might be one of the president’s men to be accommodated in Prabowo-Gibran cabinet. Pratikno, widely believed Jokowi’s operator in some controversial policies leading to backsliding of Indonesian democracy, has reportedly been auditioned by Prabowo.
Minister candidates (1): Maman Abdurrahman
Golkar politician Maman Abdurrahman might be among new faces in Prabowo-Gibran cabinet. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, daily chairman of Gerindra Party, said on Wednesday (Oct 9) that Maman is a candidate to become minister of SMEs and cooperatives. Dasco spilled that out when responding to Maman’s suggestions to change the term subsidy with incentive for electric motorcycles in a public discussion between the House of Representatives (DPR) and Association of Electric Motorcycle Suppliers (APML) at House Commission VII.
Renewable energy players (3): Salim Group
Forget about Barito Renewables (BREN). Even when the stock has fallen almost 50% from peak, the last quoted price was still unreal. Let’s talk about other major players which could generate significantly bigger renewable energy capacity in the coming years because of their existing and future projects.
Rini Soemarno
For a few weeks now, President-elect Prabowo Subianto has been holding an ‘audition’ for the next cabinet planned to be formed soon after his inauguration as the eighth President of Indonesia. Some candidates have already been summoned to Prabowo’s private residence in Hambalang, West Java for a meeting, while some others are constantly mentioned in the long list of possible candidates that will occupy strategic portfolios in the administration of Prabowo-Gibran. And Rini Soemarno, former Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, is one of them.
Uncle Birin
Trusted aide of Sahbirin Noor, governor of South Kalimantan, one of the resource-rich provinces, was among six persons arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on a bribery case. Speculation continues as to whether it will eventually hit Sahbirin, uncle of Haji Isam (owner of Jhonlin Group).
Man to Watch: Bambang Brodjonegoro
At the time when the current Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati was rumored to be stepping down from her position earlier this year, Bambang Brodjonegoro’s name came up as one of the candidates suggested by economists for the replacement. It was believed that Bambang would have been an ideal option because of his past experiences as the Head of BAPPENAS (Ministry of National Development Planning), the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Research and Technology during both of President Jokowi’s terms.
Man to Watch: Ahmad Muzani
The Matahari Pagi Indonesia (MPI), previously a volunteer group supporting Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election, has officially transformed into a mass organization, or locally known as ormas. It was the Secretary General of Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani who led the inauguration event held at Kartika Chandra Hotel in South Jakarta on Saturday (Sept 28).
