2019 Elections: Anticipating the Possibility of Having Just One Presidential Candidate

The Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo recently confirmed the reports that the government was still drafting the new Election Law, through which the Government will amend and merge the Legislative Election Law No. 8/2012 and the Presidential Election Law No. 42/2008. According to Tjahjo, who is also a former Secretary General of the ruling party PDI-P, one of the crucial points in the new Election Law was a provision aimed at anticipating the possibility of there being only one pair of presidential candidates participating in the 2019 elections.To subscribe please click here
