The first overseas mission with Premier Roger Cook to Indonesia is underway. The mission consists of more than 130 Western Australian (WA) business and Government delegates. The main focus is on investment and trade results in the energy transition, creative industries and digital economy, international education, primary industry and tourism.
Premier Roger Cook has carried out a historic trade mission to Indonesia, his first as Premier of Western Australia. Dubbed a “major mission” due to the unprecedented number of delegates involved, the mission has kicked off in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, and involves more than 130 key representatives of the Government and business world, including three members of Cook’s cabinet.
The Indonesia Connect Roadshow provides a platform to promote Western Australia (WA) as a recognized and trusted partner, as well as an opportunity for businesses in WA to engage in trade, investment and cultural exchange. The roadshow kicked off in Jakarta with the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
Representing an important opportunity for delegates to raise WA’s profile, the Summit will promote collaboration opportunities in the energy sector. This meeting will also include the WA Premier’s speech on a panel where he will discuss WA’s important relationship with the ASEAN region.
The mission in Jakarta will also include an Energy Roundtable with KADIN, which will be held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit. It will focus on developing a value-added, resilient and sustainable mineral and battery industry supply chain in both regions.
This roundtable follows up on the action plan related to essential minerals signed during the visit of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Sydney in July. Surabaya and Denpasar will also be visited by delegations during the week-long mission, with each location having a specific focus.
